The Magic of Blue Pea Tea

by Niki Angelopoulos on May 16, 2018

Blue pea tea (Clitoria ternate) is a fresh and subtle tasting tea with a myriad of benefits. Traditionally grown in hot and humid climates and native to Thailand, it is offered to guests as a welcome drink dressed with ice, lemon juice and honey to create a refreshing iced tea.

Caffeine FREE Blue Tea......

This tea is caffeine free, so is suitable to drink any time of the day, even as a calming bedtime drink.

Blue tea has antioxidant properties due to it’s high content of anthocyanins, anthocyanidins and catechins which also create the blue pigment in the flower. When water hot water is added to the fresh or dried flowers, they release the most amazing vibrant blue colour creating a mystical and magical tea.

Blue Pea flowers have been used to strengthen and improve the lustre of the hair, tighten the skin, keep the skin healthy and glowing, support the body’s detoxification processes, increase circulation, improve night vision and eye health as well as having a calming and relaxing effect on tension and anxiety.

It inhibits the intestinal uptake of sugar which reduces the reactions between proteins and sugar thus promoting an anti-diabetic effect in the body. It has thermogenic properties so may assist in an increased metabolism and fat burning capacity in the body.

Rebalance the body's pH with Blue tea......

The tea also supports pH balance as it is an alkaloid which can work to neutralise over acidity from diet and lifestyle. through alkalising we can support our bodes to maintain health, slow down the ageing process, oxidations and deterioration of cells.

A supportive cardiovascular tonic to improve cholesterol and arterial health....

Blue tea has gentle pain relieving properties which are particularly helpful with inflammation of the joints or the digestive system. It can have a calming effect on ulcers and support the body to heal as it increases circulation and oxygen availability.

When circulation is increased, it has a positive affect on libido. Blue pea tea has often been used to assist with infertility and impotence.

So this intensely coloured tea is a great herbal healing tonic that can be consumed hot or cold and be a great support to your overall health.

To make Blue Pea Butterfly Tea, simply place 1 teaspoon of dried flowers in a pot of boiled and slightly cooled water and allow to steep for 3 minutes. The longer you leave the flowers the more intense and vivid the blue colour will be.

By adding a few drops of lemon or lime juice you can also create a magical experience and change the colour of the tea to violet or red.
